AND TRICKS

SEPTEMBER 2024 - Designed to help first-year students with their transition into university. It will include tips on academic resources available, studying methods, maps of key points on campus, and discussions about how to succeed in standard first-year STEM courses.

ACADEMIC RESEARCH NIGHT

OCTOBER 2024 - Research Night is an annual event for University of Calgary professors to present their research in the Engineering and Science fields. Research Night is an
excellent networking opportunity for students interested in completing a
summer research term. The event helps foster further student involvement in
STEM research and generates interest in research and development careers.

RESUME INSIGHTS + INTERVIEW PREP

OCTOBER 2024 - PDW to help students refine their resumes and sharpen their interview skills to excel in their career journeys. This interactive session offers practical tips and personalized guidance from industry professionals and experienced mentors to craft standout resumes and approach interviews with confidence.

MENTORSHIP KICKOFF

OCTOBER 2024 - Connect mentors and mentees as part of WISE’s mentorship program. This event is designed to foster meaningful relationships, set clear goals, and build a supportive community. Participants will engage in interactive activities, network with like-minded peers, and hear inspiring insights from experienced mentors.

BAKE SALE

OCTOBER 2024 - Our annual bake sale, where you can enjoy delicious treats while supporting a great cause! This year, all proceeds were donated to the Calgary Women’s Immigration Centre to help empower and support immigrant women in our community. Many of the baked goods have been generously donated by local bakeries or lovingly prepared by our wonderful executive team.

GIRL GUIDES FALL FEST

OCTOBER 2024 -

WISE hosted Girls in Science Fall Fest where Girl Guides from across the city together to learn experienced a hands-on exploration of science and engineering. Our wonderful volunteers, supported our team in leading the science activities and experiments, supporting the registration desk, and directing the youth from station to station.

NOVEMBER 2024 - Welcome our amazing volunteers with an exciting day filled with fun activities! Attendees will enjoy games, prizes, and a photo booth to capture memorable moments. An informative session will provide key details, while delicious food will keep everyone energized throughout the event.

WISE x TOASTMASTERS PDW

NOVEMBER 2024 - WISE and Toastmasters team up to boost your confidence and enhance your speaking skills through engaging activities! This workshop will taught attendees effective techniques for both planned and impromptu speaking in a supportive environment. It's perfect for anyone looking to elevate their communication abilities.

MEDICAL SCHOOL NIGHT

NOVEMBER 2024 - Students from various healthcare programs across Canada, including pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, optometry, and veterinary medicine, contribute to this event. Students interested in these programs have the opportunity to have all their questions about applications, programs, and a "day in the life" answered.

NOVEMBER 2024 - Relaxing event to connect with the WISE community over a Gilmore Girls marathon and warm grilled cheese sandwiches! Great opportunity to take a break from the studying and relax with the girlies!

NETWORKING NIGHT

JANUARY 2025 -

A fantastic career fair-style event that brought together students and industry professionals. Attendees had the chance to meet representatives from leading companies like CNRL, PepsiCo, ATCO, and many more, learning about internships, co-op placements, and recent graduate positions. The event provided an excellent platform for students to ask questions, build their networks, and gain valuable insights into various industries.
