Mentorship Paint Night

As apart of the WISE mentorship program, Paint Night is mandatory for all participants. We will provide all materials needed and there will be snacks. This serves as a great opportunity to network with your mentor and will also be counted as a communication. We will be recapping how the program has gone so far so please mark this down in your calendars!

Networking PDW Workshop

Come join us at our first PDW workshop of the semester! Our guest speaker, Julie Murrell, a professional image consultant, will explain the importance of networking and how to develop effective networking techniques. This interactive workshop is for people with any networking experience level and will allow you to gain the confidence and skills to connect with professionals in your industry and develop your network.

Networking Night

WISE's biggest annual event is here! The goal of this event is provide both male and female undergraduate students with the opportunity to network with a variety of industry professionals, professors and graduate students in the areas of science and engineering. Food and beverages will be provided!

Shell Resume and Interview Workshop

WISE is collaborating with Shell to provide a resume and interview workshop. Shell representatives will provide insights into writing succinct and convincing resumes, and interviewing successfully. They will also be able to speak about their internships with Shell and their experiences with the Shell Graduate Program. This is a unique opportunity to connect with industry professionals and learn their best insider tips for succeeding in pursuing your career.

ProtoChallenge

ProtoChallenge is a 24 hour challenge where groups of students pitch ideas to help the community and build a prototype to gain skills, find potential employers, and win prizes. Women's STEM Panel & Networking Event, Sponsored by GE

The University of Calgary, Career Services and Women's Resource Centre, in partnership with General Electric, and in collaboration with WISE club and WIL club, are pleased to host a “Women in STEM” Panel & Networking evening. Be inspired by a diverse group of women professionals working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. After the discussion, there will be an opportunity to network with the panelists and other industry professionals, and ask them questions about their work in STEM. This event is sponsored by GE, and light refreshments will be served.


Grow in Diversity: A Panel to Celebrate Anita Borg's Birthday

Diversity in Engineering

Date: February 2016

On February 10, 2016, the Engineering Students' Society (ESS) and Women in Science and Engineering club (WISE) at the University of Calgary will be proudly presenting "Diversity in Engineering Night", sponsored by Fluor and General Electric. Attendees will have a chance to participate in discussions and listen to presentations on important topics such as mentorship in the workplace, gender/sexuality, and the changing work environment in the 21st century. There will also be a mini design activity to test your teamwork and problem solving skills. Not only will there be informative presentations and interactive discussions, but also the opportunity to network with industry professionals and ask them questions about their careers. This is a free event with food and drinks provided but space is limited so please sign up!


Science & Engineering Research Night

  • Annual event for professors to display their field of research in various disciplines of Engineering and Science
  • Excellent networking opportunity for students who are interested in completing a summer research term
  • Students can learn about the process of applying for research awards
  • Inspire student body to pursue a career in Research and Development
Research Night is an opportunity for professors to showcase their work and meet some of the undergraduate students interested in research in science and engineering. Students will get the unique opportunity to network with professors and organizations that fund undergraduate student research. This is a great opportunity for students looking for summer research positions or even a masters program.

WISE Presents: UofC's Got Talent on Wednesday March 26th, 2014

The annual WISE Scholarship has now been linked to a talent show!

  • 1st place: $500
  • 2nd place: $300
  • 3rd place: $100

Come attend this free show, with acts include singing, breakdancing, hip-hop, bollywood and ballet. Concession proceeds go to the Calgary Women's Shelter.
